Children’s Ministry at New Hope Baptist Church

Welcome to the Children’s Ministry at New Hope Baptist Church of Lake Wales (New Hope), where we are passionate about providing a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children of all ages to grow in their faith and relationship with the Lord. We offer engaging programs on both Sundays and Wednesdays designed to meet the spiritual, emotional, and developmental needs of children and youth. At New Hope, we believe that each child is precious gift from God. Our children’s ministry is dedicated to creating opportunities for spiritual growth, lasting friendships, and building relationships with Jesus Christ. We look forward to seeing your child grow in faith with us!
 
H.O.P.E. Kids (His Kids, Obeying God, Praising Jesus, and Encouraging Others) is New Hope’s own discipleship program for children in grades K–5, created to help kids grow in their faith, build Christ‑centered friendships, and learn how to live out God’s truth every day. Rooted in Scripture and shaped by our church’s mission, H.O.P.E. Kids equips children to follow Jesus with joyful obedience, heartfelt worship, and a spirit of encouragement toward others.
 
Each summer, New Hope provides Vacation Bible School (VBS), a fun, week-long program for children in grades K–5, filled with Bible teaching, worship, games, and hands-on activities.
 
At New Hope, we require thorough background checks and screenings for all volunteers working with children and youth, in accordance with Florida state regulations. This is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all involved.

Sundays for Children’s Ministries (Nursery, Sunday School & Children’s Church)
 
Nursery (Ages Newborn-4)
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
 
Our nursery is a welcoming and nurturing environment specifically designed for our youngest members, from newborns to toddlers (ages 0-4).
 
We understand the importance of providing a secure, loving space where children can thrive while their parents attend Sunday and midweek services.
 
In our nursery, every child is treated with care and attention, ensuring that they feel valued and safe. Our experienced nursery staff members are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each child, offering personal interaction, gentle care, and age-appropriate activities that encourage early social development. Whether it is through quiet moments of cuddling, play, or song, we strive to create a comforting atmosphere that fosters a sense of security and warmth.
 
Parents can feel confident knowing their little ones are in a safe and loving environment, allowing them to fully participate in the church’s services with peace of mind.
 
We view this as the beginning of their journey with our church family, where the foundation for community and faith is laid from a very young age.
Sunday School (Grades K-12)
Time: 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
 
Sunday School at New Hope is a dynamic and engaging program designed for children and youth from ages 5 through Grade 12.
 
It’s a time for children to gather in age-appropriate classes to learn about the Bible and grow their understanding of God’s Word.
 
Each class is carefully structured to meet the age group’s developmental needs, with hands-on activities, Bible stories, and group discussions that encourage participation and deeper learning. Children and youth will explore key Bible stories, themes, and teachings that help them understand God’s love and His plan for their lives.
 
Through Sunday School, children and youth will also experience a sense of community and fellowship with others, building lasting friendships while learning how to live out their faith. Our dedicated teachers are passionate about helping each child build a strong spiritual foundation that will serve them for years to come.
 
We encourage parents to bring their children every Sunday to participate in this exciting opportunity to grow their relationship with Christ. Whether it is a younger child learning about God’s creation or a teenager diving deeper into their faith, Sunday School offers a meaningful experience for every age group!

 

Children’s Church (Grades K-5)

Sunday mornings at Children’s Church are designed to be an energetic and inspiring time of worship, Bible lessons, and fun activities. Children in Grades K-5 experience an engaging program with vibrant worship, interactive Bible teachings, and opportunities to build friendships with others who share their faith.
 
At New Hope, we deeply value each child’s spiritual growth and see this time as a crucial opportunity for them to encounter Jesus personally. Our Children’s Church experience is not just about fun, though that’s certainly a big part. It is about laying a foundation of faith that will help children navigate life’s challenges with Jesus as their guide.
 
Each week, children will learn Bible stories and principles designed to help them understand the importance of following Christ. Our teachers use creative methods, including games, skits, music, and crafts, to bring Biblical lessons to life in a way that captures children’s imaginations and makes Scripture come alive.
 
We aim to help children develop a deeper relationship with God and equip them to live out their faith daily. By building these spiritual champions, we are not only strengthening the next generation but also empowering them to be leaders who influence others and share the love of Christ with the world.
 

At Children’s Church, children will grow in both their faith and their relationships with others. It’s a place where they can feel safe, accepted, and excited to learn more about the love of God while having fun and making memories that will last a lifetime!

H.O.P.E. Kids begins with helping children understand who they are in Christ.

  • Bible Truth + Real Life Application: Children explore foundational Bible stories and discover how God’s Word speaks into real situations like friendship, honesty, kindness, courage, and forgiveness.
  • Scripture Memorization: Kids are encouraged to hide God’s Word in their hearts through weekly memory verses that build a strong spiritual foundation.

O — Obeying God in Everyday Life

Children learn that obedience to God is joyful, practical, and rooted in love.

  • Life Application: Lessons help kids connect Scripture to daily life, at home, at school, and in their relationships.
  • High Energy Games & Activities: Fun, hands‑on activities reinforce biblical truths and help kids understand how to live out what they learn.
  • Celebrating Growth: We recognize participation, Scripture memory, acts of kindness, and spiritual steps as kids learn to follow Jesus more closely.

P — Praising Jesus with Joy

Worship is woven into everything we do.

  • Worship & Praise: Children sing, move, and express their love for Jesus in age‑appropriate, joyful ways.
  • Engaging Experiences: Creative challenges, music, and interactive moments help kids experience the joy of praising Jesus with their whole hearts.

E — Encouraging Others with Christlike Love

Kids learn to reflect the love of Jesus in how they treat others.
  • Encouraging Hearts & Building Community: Through teamwork, small‑group moments, and intentional relationship‑building, children learn how to support and uplift one another.
  • Missions & Serving Others: Kids discover God’s heart for the world, learn about local and global missions, and participate in simple service opportunities that help them live out the Gospel.
 
Refuge Youth Group (Grades 6-12)
Time: 6:00 PM -7:30 PM

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
 
Vacation Bible School (Grades K-5)
 

Vacation Bible School (VBS) at New Hope is a fun, Christ-centered, week-long experience held during the summer designed to help children grow in their faith while building friendships and lasting memories. Each summer, our VBS looks a little different because it is prayerfully planned around a unique theme, Bible focus, and activities that best serve the children and families in our community.

Throughout the week, children enjoy engaging Bible teaching, worship through music, hands-on activities, games, and creative lessons that point them to God’s love and truth. VBS is designed for children in grades K–5, and is led by caring, trained volunteers who are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for every child.
